My experience with Releasing Eagles, more fondly referred to as RE, has been one of learning, not the type of rote learning, but practical skills that can be put into action in my everyday life. My journey started off in grade 8 when they first opened their wings to male mentees.
I signed up and joined, merely to see if it was something that might have interested me. Little did I know that it was one of the best decisions that I would make as a young adult. The skills I have learned at RE are invaluable. Through their workshops, I have been taught how to be emotionally, culturally, and financial intelligent and sensitive, among many other things.
I chose to highlight these examples because it really gives you perspective, and allows you to gauge the importance of this knowledge which can be applied to situations you may find yourself in in your daily life. My relationship with my mentor has also been very beneficial in many ways. I can look up to him as someone to push me to better myself, and to give me that pat on the back when needed. He encourages me to keep on improving, and to strive to becoming a mature and wise young adult, and has helped me along the journey. He has passed on knowledge that I will treasure, and will do my best to pass on as well. I can truly say that what I have learned being in RE, and from my mentor has made me a better, more knowledgeable and well-rounded individual.
